The Local Authority (LA) will provide free transport between home and school if the school attended is the nearest appropriate one. Please contact Bath & North East Somerset on 01225 395208 for enquiries. The Local Authority oversees the contracts with the coach companies, not the school.
The Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership runs the following coaches: Timsbury, Peasedown, Oakhill/Chilcompton which can change each year depending on the requirement. Places are reserved on a first come, first served basis at the beginning of the academic year.
Please also bear in mind that buses will only be able to operate if there is sufficient uptake and the route is viable. Should bus numbers reduce on any route, we reserve the right to remove this bus service at the end of the academic year.
The following is our estimated payment plan over the next two years but costs will be confirmed in the summer when the coach companies release their quotes. The Oakhill & Cranmore bus may need to be removed if these costs are unrealistic for both the school to support and parents/carers to pay:
Estimated from September 2024
Timsbury - £275 per term (£825 per year)
Peasedown - £350 per term (£1,050 per year)
Oakhill & Cranmore - £400 per term (£1,200 per year)
Estimated from September 2025
Timsbury - £300 per term (£900 per year)
Peasedown - £400 per term (£1,200 per year)
Oakhill & Cranmore - £500 per term (£1,500 per year)
N.B. The routes and costs can change at any time at the discretion of the Partnership.

As you are aware we have suffered severe flooding recently which has disrupted some school transport contracts. In an effort to improve our communication with schools and parents we have set up a website. This advises which schools are closed, routes not operating or restricted routes. In the event of severe weather, could you look at the website below before calling Transporting Somerset as this will enable staff to answer the Contractors and keep the website up-to-date!
Our website is: www.somerset.gov.uk/badweathertransport
The routes held on the Weather affected routes - School Transport on the webpage are those vehicles with 16 seats or more.
School closure information from the Somerset Learning Platform is at: https://slp.somerset.gov.uk/cypd/Lists/Emergency%20School%20Closures%20Today/ClosedToday.aspx
Children travelling on Local Authority transport are expected to conform to the accepted code of behaviour which applies in the school whilst on the transport. To find out what we expect please click here.
